A rich history. A true mission.
Proud to be part of the National Lutheran Family of retirement communities.
Formerly known as Bentley Commons, The Legacy at North Augusta is sponsored by National Lutheran Communities & Services (NLCS), a faith-based, not-for-profit ministry serving people of all beliefs. Serving seniors for more than 125 years, NLCS has the knowledge and insights that enable them to impart active, dynamic retirement lifestyles built on the promise of unparalleled health care and senior living.
Upon its acquisition in 2011, The Legacy became the first faith-based, not-for-profit retirement community in Staunton, Va. NLCS saw the opportunity to add fully integrated, state-of-the-art assisted living services to the community’s independent living offerings, while remaining affordable to moderate-income seniors. In keeping with the NLCS Mission, the goal was to enable residents—and couples—to stay as independent as possible, while still preserving dignity and choice. Approximately $1.6 million was invested in The Legacy for the necessary building enhancements and equipment.
The NLCS Mission
To fulfill its Christian ministry, National Lutheran Communities & Services provides an array of options for seniors including residential living along with home and health care services, which are designed to meet individual needs.
